APPLICATION CHECKLIST

The department requires the following from all prospective candidates for graduate studies before they can be considered for acceptance and support:

Items 1 through 3 should be mailed directly to: University of North Texas School of Graduate Studies, 1155 Union Circle #305459, Denton, TX 76203-5017

__________1. Completed Robert B. Toulouse School of Graduate Studies Application for Admission form and $50.00 application fee. The fastest, most efficient way to apply for admissions to UNT is to fill out the Texas Common Application online at www.applytexas.org. If you apply online, you may pay the application fee online with a credit card. If you prefer, you may call the UNT admissions office, (800) UNT-8211, with your credit card information, or send a check (payable to the UNT admissions office). Remember that your application cannot be processed until your fee payment is received.

__________2. An official copy of the GRE (Graduate Records Exam) scores (Verbal and Quantitative).

__________3. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.

Items 4 through 7 can be emailed to: GEOG-GradAdmissions@unt.edu or mailed to: Dr. Steve Wolverton, Graduate Advisor, University of North Texas, Department of Geography and the Environment, 1155 Union Circle #305279, Denton, TX 76203-5017.

__________4. Three letters of reference from former professors/associates who know your academic qualifications.

__________5. The essay detailing the exact nature of your interests in applied geography and your career goals. Please make this essay as informative as possible. It determines which professor will evaluate your file. Also indicate if you are interested in a TA or RA position.

__________6. A current curriculum vitae summarizing your educational background and work experience.

__________7. Applied Geography Application Data Sheet.

Carefully read the Graduate Catalog for general admissions requirements of the University of North Texas and departmental information regarding the Applied Geography degree program.

Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 hours. After letters of reference, GRE scores, essay and application forms are received, allow four to six weeks for processing.
