GEOG 4920 Internship Experience is a course where students can receive credit for an internship that they found and completed during the semester they are wanting to receive credit. Students are also able to use GEOG 4920 as a substitution for the GEOG 4800 Geography Capstone credit. Eligibility

For an internship to qualify for GEOG 4920 credit, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 3.0 GPA in the major
  • The internship should be at least 120 hours or about 8 hours per week during the semester
  • The scope of work for the internship should apply and build on skillsets developed in classes and relevant to your career path.
  • Faculty sponsor: Students are expected to find a faculty sponsor in Geography & the Envrionment who is willing to review over your application, final reports, and assigning the final grade. The student will register for GEOG 4920 under the faculty sponsor's name.

Process

You must do the following to receive credit for GEOG 4920:

  • Secure the internship prior to the beginning of the semester that you want to receive credit.
  • Complete the application process prior to the beginning of the semester that you want to receive credit.
  • Submit your summary report for a final grade. The final report format is subject to change upon agreement between the student and the faculty sponsor. This would be in the form of what you and your faculty sponsor agreed on (i.e., written report, oral presentation, work portfolio, etc.) as your end of the semester evaluation.
  • Students are encouraged to report the internship to the Career Center.
