Reporting Internships | Department of Geography and the Environment

Reporting Internships

We encourage students who get internships to report them to the Career Center. All internships should be reported whether they are for credit or not. This is not required, but it helps the Career Center to continue improving the internship experience for other students. This type of data will help us better serve our majors. The reporting process provides the following:

Information on the types of internships for which our majors are being hired

opportunity for the department to build networks with employers

Reporting Your Internship

  • Internships should be reported on Handshake as soon as you are hired - How to report your internship experience.
  • The Career Center will reach out to the employer
    • to establish a relationship with an employer not currently in their database
    • to send out evaluations developed by the department to document the type of experiences provided by the internship and to evaluate your performance. The evaluations do not go on your record. They are a means for the department to understand who is employing our majors, what experiences they are gaining, and how well-prepared our majors are for those opportunities.
