The IT track is a pathway through the CS electives in the BS in GIS+CS. There is high demand in the GIS community for practitioners who can enter careers in data management and construction of GIS infrastructure. Such careers can be established with municipalities and other governmental agencies, with health and medical companies, with non-profits who rely on spatial data and analysis, and even in the world of politics. Essentially, in any career in which place matters, a mix of GIS, CS, and IT is in high demand.
In addition, students who finish the BS in GIS+CS in the IT track are well positioned to enter graduate studies at UNT.
