Fair on the square in front of Denton's magical courthouse.
Denton, Texas, was recently nominated one of most fun small towns in America (http://blog.discoverdenton.com/blog/visit-denton-2/denton-one-of-six-finalists-for-most-fun-town-in-america), placing sixth in three of five categories: most fun, most friendly and best food. Well, we're not surprised. With ~115,000 inhabitants and covering 231 km2, Denton has everything a small town could want and need. Our town's major student population (University of North Texas and Texas Woman's University combined) coupled with a historically large population of musicians, artists, artisans, classic car fans, horse lovers, ranchers and farmers makes for plenty of festivals, shows, and markets. While Texas is known for its rich and diverse cultures, our little city seems to be offering something quite unique. Is it the growing number and spectrum of entertainment and food venues? The new train station? Or just that unquantifiable 'vibe' that makes Denton so special? In one of the earliest treatise on space, Aristotle argued that things tend to naturally move toward their own place and to their natural sphere. For Denton, perhaps fun and friendly just come naturally. They just belong here.
