Contribute to Geography and the Environment

The Department of Geography & the Environment is highly diverse - comprising of fifteen faculty members from seven countries with expertise in earth sciences and modeling, human systems and the environment, globalization and development, location intelligence and medical geography, and GIS and remote sensing. Our comprehensive curriculum helps students develop research skills to be competitive academically and in the job market. Our alumni are employed in governmental positions from city to federal levels and in the private sector in environmental management, city planning, utilities and transportation, the oil and gas industry, mapping and surveying organizations, business and real estate, and many other fields.

Giving Opportunities

Scholarships for students fuels our rise to the upper echelon of geography departments. Our graduates solve real-world problems, such as protecting our water supply, planning for natural disasters, and making cities more sustainable.

Access is a UNT's core value, and scholarships reduce students' debt burden, promote mental wellbeing, and enable them to focus on their studies.

Our department provides opportunities for student research in various areas, including ecosystem studies, urban development, public health, and natural resources and hazards. Financial support defrays field expenses, travel costs, and registration fees at conferences.
