Joshua Hodge:  Joshua is working on the dynamics of long-term marsh sedimentation on the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge, Texas. He is using storm surge sediment beds deposited by Hurricane Audrey (1957), Hurricane Rita (2005) and Hurricane Ike (2008) as marker beds to calculate hurricane sedimentation, non-hurricane sedimentation, and how they have changed over the last 60 years. Josh presented his study findings at SWAAG in fall 2014 and at the AAG meeting in Chicago in spring 2015. He is  co-authoring a journal article based on his thesis research with Dr. Williams.

I supervise graduate students working on a variety of thesis research topics; recent examples include:
* Impact of urbanization on storm response of White Rock Creek, Dallas
* GIS Modeling Of Wetlands Elevation Change In Response To Projected Sea Level Rise, Trinity Bay, Texas.
* Shoreline Erosion at Mad Island Marsh Preserve, Matagorda County, Texas
* Sediment runoff from natural gas well sites in Denton County, Texas
* Examining the role of latitude and differential insolation in asymmetrical valley development
* Hurricane Rita storm surge sedimentation in Louisiana coastal woodlands and marshes
* Hurricane Ike storm surge sedimentation in Texas coastal marshes

I encourage prospective students with an interest in earth science research to contact me to make an appointment to discuss potential thesis topics.
