BS in GIS + CS: Computer Science Track

The Computer Science track is a pathway through the CS electives in the BS in GIS+CS. Data collection through mobile sensors such as cell phones or portable monitoring devices is leading to an abundance of rich, but unstructured data about how people interact with environment. Information gleaned through the analysis of these unstructured datasets can yield important insights into the spread of disease, development of retail strategy, and many other domains. This track combines knowledge on spatial analysis and data with high-demand computer science skills in areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics. Students who complete this track are well positioned to enter graduate studies at UNT.
