Geography Minor

Students planning to minor in geography (or geology, below) should consult our geography undergraduate advisor Dr. Yuting Li. A minor requires 18 hours and usually includes: GEOG 1200 or 2170, GEOG 1710 and 12 advanced hours.

  • Education Students - Elementary and secondary education students interested in becoming geography teachers should consult with the College of Education. Importantly, geography courses may be counted toward the course requirements both in education and the geography minor.

Geology Minor

A minor in geology requires 18-19 hours in geology and earth science, including GEOL 1610 and GEOL 3020. Four additional courses must be selected from: GEOG 4350, GEOG 4750, GEOL 3000, GEOL 3010, GEOL 3030, GEOG 4260, GEOL 4630, and GEOL 4850. Geography majors may minor in geology, but none of the courses taken to satisfy the minor can also be applied to the major.
