Bradley Rains: Bradley graduated from the Master's program in the summer of 2020. Bradley's thesis topic revolved around Hurricane Harvey washover and dune erosion on Matagorda Island, Texas. Chelsea Beaubouef: Chelsea plans to graduate summer 2021. She is finishing her thesis involving the use of XRF analysis to discriminate between marine and terrestrial sediment beds in coastal marshes. I supervise graduate students working on a variety of thesis research topics; recent examples include: * Impact of urbanization on storm response of White Rock Creek, Dallas * GIS Modeling of Wetlands Elevation Change In Response To Projected Sea Level Rise, Trinity Bay, Texas. * Shoreline Erosion at Mad Island Marsh Preserve, Matagorda County, Texas * Sediment runoff from natural gas well sites in Denton County, Texas * Examining the role of latitude and differential insolation in asymmetrical valley development * Hurricane Rita storm surge sedimentation in Louisiana coastal woodlands and marshes * Hurricane Ike storm surge sedimentation in Texas coastal marshes I encourage prospective students with an interest in earth science research to contact me to make an appointment to discuss potential thesis topics. |
