ARCH 4620: Pacific Islands Archaeology

This regional course takes a four-field approach to the prehistory of Oceania, which includes Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia.
We will examine and evaluate the concepts that have dominated archaeological research in the area including: 
      island biogeography,
      migration and colonization,
      human impact on the environment,
      isolation, exchange, and trade, and 
      the evolution of social complexity.
