Pinliang Dong receives award for excellence in research

Congratulations to Dr. Pinliang Dong, Associate Professor of Geography, for receiving the 2014 CAS award for excellence in research. Dong earned this honor as a result of his exceptional research productivity during the 2012-2013 academic year. Dong's research focuses on the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in environmental science, transportation, public health, and emergency response; spatial analysis and spatial modeling; remote sensing and digital image analysis; and Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) for urban and forestry applications. In the Department of Geography, Dong teaches a variety of courses, including Intermediate and Advanced GIS, Advanced GIS Programming, as well as Introduction to Remote Sensing.
