TGI Friday Seminar: The Pixel Problem: Predicting Land Cover from Space
Who: Dr. Amy Frazier, Department of Geography, Oklahoma State University
When: September 18th, 3-4 PM
Where: EESAT 130
Why? Our ability to map natural and human features across the Earth's land surface, including topography, vegetation, and the built environment is unprecedented. Powerful new geospatial technologies can be applied in a wide range of environments to answer fundamental questions about human populations and the species and ecosystems with which we interact. But, with new technologies there are also challenges.
Dr. Amy Frazier develops methods using remote sensing and GIS to better understand our environment and ecosystems. Together with graduate students in the Center for Applications of Remote Sensing (CARS), they study issues related to land change, resilience, and resource management.
