We accept applications for fall semester program admission only. Our program has established a target date and a deadline for application.
The target date is the date by which we prefer to receive completed applications. Students who apply by our target date will receive full consideration for funding opportunities available in our department.
The deadline is the final date by which we accept applications for the fall semester. Students who apply by the deadline will be considered for admission but have a reduced chance of obtaining funding.
- Target date: January 15
- Deadline: March 30
Our departmental checklist specifies all of the information that must be sent to complete your application for admission. The checklist indicates which application items must be sent directly to UNT's Toulouse School of Graduate Studies, and which items must be sent to the geography graduate advisor.
Application to the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies can be submitted online, or alternatively, paper copies can be mailed to the graduate school. More information for international applications can be found here. As the departmental checklists indicate, complete applications for admission include several items. The sections below explain each of these items. Our admissions committee conducts a holistic review of all items submitted as part of the application. Although a deficiency in any one criterion will not preclude admission to our program, top applicants will demonstrate strong potential in all areas. We seek students who are well prepared and fit with the research and teaching interests of our faculty.
